No, we work with and champion all genders! While we are female founders and believe in gender equity, especially above the line, we are here for everyone. We like to joke that we have our Lighthouse Ladies and Lads!

What is the mission of Lighthouse Ladies?

Accepted Answer

Lighthouse Ladies exists to give artists a harbor to anchor their creative process in. We're a women-founded production company built on the belief that great work comes from collaboration, not competition, and that the industry is stronger when there's room for genre-bending stories and the people telling them. Where women lead, everyone creates.

What makes Lighthouse Ladies different?

We build human-first productions. That means genre-bending work made with people who are treated like whole artists, not line items in a budget. Our network reflects it. We run an active database of creatives with a real community behind it, and our newsletter holds an 85% open rate, which is unusual for this industry. We're also creator-first in a way most production companies aren't, because our founder, Sònia Victoria Werner, is a working actress with credits on Netflix, BET, and HBO Max. That means the advice and the productions you get come from someone working the creative side, not just running the business side.

Is Lighthouse Ladies a nonprofit?

No, Lighthouse Ladies is an LLC, not a nonprofit. That said, many of our individual projects are fiscally sponsored, which means contributors can still get nonprofit-style benefits, including tax deductions on their support.

What kind of stories do you produce?

We make genre-bending work. You won't typically find us doing a straightforward family drama, and when we come close, there's always a distinct angle to it: a South Asian dystopia that went on to Oscar-qualifying and international festivals, queer sketch comedy, an Afro-Latino multi-generational story. Ex-Communicated, our upcoming series, is a tech drama with a Black Mirror-adjacent edge, centered on romance and young adult characters. There's more coming.

What kind of events does Lighthouse Ladies host?

We host a mix of community and industry events. That includes our Lighthouse Lounge paired mixer (coming back in late 2026), Tangible Takeaways Panel & Workshop Events, industry readings, larger industry mixers and panels like our Oscars watch party and Road to Tribeca, and workshops built around specific creative or business skills. Follow us on socials or join our mailing list & database for all the invites asap!

What is your database & do I need experience to join?

Accepted Answer

Our database is a free-to-join network of interdisciplinary filmmakers, theatre-makers, actors, writers, directors, and all other creatives that we draw from for casting, crew, collaborators, and community programming. No experience required to join. We do ask about your experience level so we can match you with opportunities that actually make sense for where you are.

How do I submit a script or project for consideration? Do you accept unsolicited pitches?

Accepted Answer

First decide what you're looking for. If you want Lighthouse Ladies to produce your project, that goes through a pitching process with internal coverage and takes a bit more time. If you're looking for production support to bring your own project to life, that's our services side, and it moves faster. Either way, head to the Services tab on our site and use the inquiry form at the bottom of the page. We do accept unsolicited pitches, and we're actively building our slate for 2027 and 2028, so this is a good time to send yours.

How much do your services cost?

We work on flat fees, starting at $195 for our most accessible service and scaling up from there depending on scope. We also offer production packages if you want to combine services and get more value out of working with us. If you have a specific budget, let us know in the services inquiry form. We'll tell you plainly what's possible within it. Sometimes the answer is no, but we'll always try.

Can I get referrals through Lighthouse Ladies?

Yes. Our network exists specifically so we can connect artists with the right people, whether that's crew for a shoot, a director looking for a lead, or a producer looking for a script. Join the database and let us know what you're looking for.

Do you offer internships or volunteer opportunities, and are they paid?

Accepted Answer

Yes, most are paid! When you join our database, you can tell us exactly what opportunities you're open to, whether that's paid only, volunteer work, a specific day rate, or SAG-only projects, and we'll reach out when something  fits. The only way to hear about internship openings is through our database and mailing list, so join both if you want first access. For project opportunities like joining us on set in any capacity, we try to only bring people on for paid work specifically, unless you've told us you're open to volunteering/growing your resume. Note: most of our internships are unpaid or experience-based, unless they come through our ReelWorks partnership, a state-affiliated program built to support emerging creatives and interns. We typically bring on interns once or twice a year, usually for summer and winter cohorts, with applications opening in the Fall and Spring.

Where is Lighthouse Ladies located, and do you work with artists outside New York?

We're based in New York City, and that's still the bulk of what we do. But we work with artists across the country and around the world. We regularly consult on projects nationwide, and about half of our current services clients aren't in New York at all, they're in Los Angeles, Texas, Pennsylvania, and beyond. We also have international reach through our team and partnerships, including a producer based in London and an active project overseas coming soon... Wherever you're based, reach out and we'll figure out how to make it work.
